Jocelyn Venegas

I am Jocelyn Venegas, A 17-year-old senior, at Hoover High. I am president of both ASB and of the ALMA Academy. I am responsible for making our school better, for us to have more pride and more spirit because we need it. I also want my academy to be better. We already have some of the best teachers but my main goal is to help out with fundraising. Beside all these responsibilities, I also have a job, I go to work after school to help out my family financially. I usually get home around 11 or 12 at night, which is the time I start to do my homework. My AP courses leave me without sleep but the grades I have are worth those sleepless nights. On some of my days off I participate in a program called Big Brothers Big Sisters, which is something I love to be part of. The program gives me the opportunity to be better trained for my future career, to be a teacher. Being part of so many things might be stressful but I like keeping myself busy. I like to have a voice, to be involved, if there needs to be a change I like to be able to help out. Life might be short but if you work hard, time is not an obstacle. One last thing, always do what you enjoy doing, always make the change not just complain, and trust me not only the school but this world will be a better place.
