Tommy Tran

I am a Vietnamese-American senior and 17 years old. Some of my greatest struggles right now would be: handling my temper/anger issues and being social. I am happiest when I am hanging out with my friends. One risk I took was joining badminton, because I felt I wasn’t ready for a sport. Losing my first game in badminton was quite a disappointment to me, as I had trained very hard and had high expectations of myself, but it served as my motivation to get better. I am happy and content when I’m on the [badminton] court playing my fullest. Some extracurricular activities that I participated in were APAC, Key Club and of course badminton. I felt compliant to take two AP classes and get straight A’s. My family consists of my twin brother Johnny and I, my single mom, a younger half brother and my grumpy grandma. In five years I see myself in college, and later in my future I see myself having a career involving math. My life goal is to get married and be financially stable. I enjoy playing badminton and spending time with friends and learning.
