The Hoover High School lacrosse team was crowned league champs by defeating rivals Mira Mesa in a close game.

From the first year record to the current record, there has been mass improvement and dedication put into this team. The boys went ten and eight and went to playoffs. Leaders like seniors Demian Rodriguez, Guillermo “Memo” Fragoso, and Edwin Medina, carried and provided the team with confidence. Coach Ian Mills and his staff and trainers believed it was possible for them to win and fulfill their potential.

The team went through ups and downs but held on as Mira Mesa beat them in the first game 7-4 thus forcing the team to hit into overdrive as the league champs became up for grabs. Hoover faced  Mira Mesa again and blew them out 13-2. With heads held up high, the team were told they would be sharing the championship with Mira Mesa but instead they forced them to play one final game on a cold Friday night under the lights.

It was like a movie. It went from Hoover losing to catching up, to taking the game to overtime three times and winning it. It was such an intense game but the boys pulled through and got what they deserved, because hard work truly pays off.
