Being 18 and Able to Vote
A few things that come to mind when someone turns 18 and being able to vote is huge for our generation. The upcoming election is one of the most interesting and shocking events I have heard of, due to the fact that Donald Trump took the lead not too long ago. Although I am not fully aware of what each candidate offers to the country, I do know that since I officially have a voice in politics, I will not let just anyone take on this nation.
To be considered an adult, I am given the choice to vote on who I think is best fit as president. Honestly, I do feel quite powerful because before I would complain or compliment the government in different ways, from medical to financial situations, but now I finally have a voice to say what is on my mind and it actually counts. As I look across the board of presidential candidates, I do not believe that Donald Trump is a reasonable man. Coming from his background of being a billionaire, he is possibly capable of fixing the national debt conflict, but his ideas dealing with the immigration and minority system are out of line. As a fellow voter, I do not like the idea of Trump cutting off the chances for people to fix their life or to gain better opportunities in the USA.
Personally, I am not that involved in politics, but I do understand that by having the ability to have a small say in the government makes all the difference. I hear from commercials and other adults that voting is very important since it allows me to say no to something I disapprove, or say yes to something that I do approve. Legally voting within the next election is quite exciting to me because it means that I am growing up and that I am able to say, “Yeah, I voted for that guy”. It is also very scary that I am able to vote because it gives me the idea that I am growing up too fast. I will have more responsibilities before I know it. I am ready to vote because I am looking forward to completing the list of things that I want to accomplish as an 18 year old.
