Ceramics are a way of expressing one’s creative mind.
When I was seven, I would always watch videos of people doing small clay sculptures. I remember clearly being super interested in the videos and would beg my family to buy me clay. As I was slowly starting to grow older, the interest in clay would slowly vanish. By the time I was in middle school, the only elective that they would give out is art. I forgot about the clay interest and continued to do art my whole year of middle school. I admit I do love art but it was never something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I still draw here and there but it sure is very tiring as well.
I recall my brother coming home from school and had a ceramic Oni mask. He would tell me once I go to Hoover, to most definitely try to sign up for ceramics. It made me find out that I could do way more than just art. Once I got into high school, I tried hard to enroll into ceramics. I believe in my Junior year I was finally able to take ceramics. I was super excited.
Our first project in ceramics was making a name tag. I made a name tag for my boyfriend at the time. Making a gift for someone I love made me realize how I can give people my art that I made with love and hopefully they enjoyed it because I thought of them and all the little things they loved. Ceramics is important to me because it also allow me to put whatever I was thinking about into the clay. Ceramics can also show you important life lessons. I learned that it sure takes a lot of patience. Another thing I learned from ceramics is that it takes a while for things to look better.
I take these lessons into my life and continue to learn from ceramics. Ceramics is a care-free hobby that really lets you be creative and get mad at the clay without having some sort of trouble. I for sure think that everyone should try ceramics at least once.
