Xochitl Gomez is a young actress who is best known for playing the role of America Chavez in Marvel’s movie Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
Gomez is an 18 year old Mexican-American young lady who was born on April 29, 2006 and was raised in Los Angeles but her mother and father are both from Mexico. Gomez is an only child but has a dog and a cat.
Gomez won the Young Entertainer Award back in 2021 and also received an award for being Best Child Actor back in 2019.
In the movie Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Gomez played a queer teen girl named America Chavez. This generation of queer teens felt more open and inspired with their identity because of it. Gomez’s character in this movie is portrayed as a confident, strong, and brave young girl who goes on dangerous missions to try and stop a powerful villian from causing harm to civilians.
Teens who are part of the LGBTQ+ community saw this and they felt more open and comfortable in their own skin. This may not seem like a big deal, but the LGBTQ+ community is a big part of this year’s generation.
People resonated with Gomez’s character because not only was she queer and part of the LGBT community but she was a brave teen who was queer in the world. Which is why many teens see her as a role model. Also, Gomez herself is fun, spirited, free, silly, and open and people like that.
Gomez may not have done a big life changing thing in history but she definitely changed some lives for the better and impacted the lives of many young adults in this world.
