Frank Ocean is one of my favorite singers/songwriters. I really like his music because his voice is so calming and I enjoy listening to R&B.
Ocean’s birth name is Christopher Edwin Breaux. He later changed his name to Frank Ocean because he was inspired by Frank Sinatra and his film Ocean’s 11. Ocean was born in Long Beach, California on October 28, 1987, but grew up in New Orleans, then moved to LA when he was a teenager. When he moved to LA he was introduced to jazz music and would listen to his mother’s R&B CD’s.
He started off ghostwriting for Justin Bieber and Beyonce and then was inspired to make his own music and his own tracks. Since then, he’s been writing songs and releasing them, and his first album Nostalgia, Ultra, went big. He wrote a song called “Chanel” that was played a lot on Tiktok and many people listened to it and really liked it.
He’s won numerous awards such as the Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance, Grammy Award for Best Progressive R&B Album, Brit Awards, GLAAD Awards, NME Award for Best International Male Artist, Soul Train Music Award and many more.
I listened to the song “Chanel” but to be honest, I didn’t know it was his song. I started to like Frank Ocean because my cousin was a huge fan of his and every time she’d come to my house, she’d play his music and I really liked his voice. I started listening to more of his music and now he’s one of my favorite singers ever. Some of my favorite songs of his are “Ivy,” “Pyramids,” “White Ferrari,” and “Solo” because his voice in those songs are so soft and comforting. All his songs are great!
