Alan Figueroa is a senior during the 2024-2025 school year here at Hoover High School.

Alan is an intellectually advanced student. He is also very interested in science related fields, like STEM. He is always willing to help others academically, and overall lend a helping hand. His current favorite subject in school would be AP chemistry with Mr. Melinger. It’s his favorite subject because Mr. Mellinger encourages him to keep going even if things get difficult. Also he enjoys the labs that he participates in because they challenge him academically to be better.

Alan is planning to go to UCSD to study pre-medicine. He picked pre-med because of his interest in helping others. Wanting to help others because he likes seeing people happy and healthy. His long term goal is to assist in any medical emergency and to become a family medicine physician. He wants to become financially stable for his future family. His mom keeps inspiring him to strive for greatness, and has always been there for him since day one. His favorite memory here at Hoover is being with friends during ESports.  He considers that as his favorite memory because of the people there that always manage to make him smile.

When he does encounter conflict,his strategy is to take a deep breath and rationalize, and find the best solution. Which has helped him overcome multiple obstacles in his life. The thing that keeps him going when he feels like giving up is gardening, because he finds joy watching his plants grow and flourish. With the many activities he participates in school, he relaxes by playing board games like monopoly and chess.
