“Everyone right now is kind of in a distress mode since Trump got elected and is making it seem like Trump is going to take over the world and start World War Three. But I feel like people should calm down and see where things go first because, most of the time, these candidates say they’re going to make these changes and whatnot, and once they are elected as president they rarely make any changes in office.”
“He has stated that he will try his hardest to deport citizens who have immigrant parents. And that is so worrying knowing he has that much hatred for immigrants even though he himself is an immigrant as well as his wife. What is the most disappointing part of all of this is about 60% percent of Latinos have voted for him. That is the one thing that still has me confused. How will you vote for a person that you know does not like you, that does not want you? The only good thing that came out of him being reelected is he wont be able to run for president anymore. As for Kamala Harris, I am having mixed emotions, but I do know she is by far better than Trump. Harris is not a convicted felon. Trump has 34 felony counts and still has not been behind bars. Yet he is still allowed to run for president? A CRIMINAL IS ALLOWED TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT! I don’t even know what America has come to.”
“I don’t think it was a good thing that he was elected or the other candidate Kamala because in all honesty they both were not very trustworthy to me but I am not deep in politics for example I didn’t know everything that they proposed but they both took advantage of peoples disadvantages and lack of knowledge even proposing things that aren’t possible to do and making it their main point as to what they were going to do once they were in office. For example, Kamala made abortion rights her whole campaign at least from what I’ve seen and she was not trustworthy in my opinion, and didn’t live up to her title as vice president. As for Trump, I don’t think a felon should be in office and someone who is unhinged and has been convicted before also people gave Biden a run for his money for his age but Trump is not far off at all.”
“My thoughts on Kamala Harris are mixed emotions. I don’t necessarily think she’s a good person given her ongoing support for Israel’s military actions, including airstrikes on Gaza, and her endorsement of other controversial positions during her time as vice president. However, I do think she was the best fit for us out of all the candidates. I really believe she would’ve been a better president for us because she believes in setting us forward not backwards unlike trump. Also she would’ve been the first female president the United States has ever seen, which would have been monumental.”
“Women don’t deserve to have their freedom taken away. Women deserve to feel free and heard, they shouldn’t have to live in fear that something might happen to them. People shouldn’t have to pay double the price for health insurance because not everyone has that type of money. Trump is the reason why people could die. They die because they couldn’t afford the medical attention they needed. Increasing prices of health insurance isn’t worth someone’s life. I believe that the main reason Kamala Harris wasn’t elected is because people think that women aren’t fit to be president or could handle our nation. Our nation is full of sexist people. People who only believe men should be in charge and men are what’s better despite what they plan to do or what type of person they are. They believe women should stick to working in kitchens and let men do the hard work. I feel like Kamala would’ve been a better president because she would’ve fought for women’s rights and freedom.”
“This is going to affect the nation because if Project 2025 is real then it would impact a lot of people who are immigrants and people who are citizens related to the immigrants. There would be a great depression if immigrants were deported because they are the working class who essentially do all of the hard labor and dirty work compared to those who are in the upper class, the upper class wouldn’t know how to work the jobs the lower class does so it would lower the supply and raise the demand which would eventually lead to the great depression. I am concerned for my family because it would affect most of my family members in other ways than what is proposed in Project 2025 but mainly what is proposed in it and I hope it does not come to that.”
“I just could not see myself voting for someone like that to be president and have access to our nuclear codes. He’s a liar and he can’t be trusted. Also because of this, I do think it will affect the nation. I can’t relate to this perspective because all my family members are from here but I can really see this affecting immigrants and Muslims. I say this because Trump said he wanted to stop Muslims from entering the country and immigrants in general. People are agreeing to these crazy comments Trump has made. They thing this is right and they think this will stop the crime rates, drug rates, and g(rape) rates. This is all racially motivated and the fact that the majority of the country voted for this baffles me.”
“To be honest I am disappointed about the reelection of Donald Trump. I knew that he was most likely going to win because America doesn’t want even a woman running their country let alone a black one. I am sad that now we don’t have the right to abortions and I really don’t understand how the government is even allowed to decide what we do to our bodies. And I know it would have inspired so many people if Harris won but I guess America just wasn’t ready for her yet. This has already affected the nation in stocks and in gas prices. All the things people voted for him were to lower the cost of things, but it seems things like gas keeps getting higher. And I know now that the racism and discrimination is going to get worse because even people sent racist messages saying that they are “picking them up to pick cotton.” So I don’t think it was a good thing that he was reelected because he’s a felon, and how would he know what is right to do when he doesn’t even do the right things. I know it will affect my family because we are black, and he is a known racist.”
“In my opinion, neither of the presidential candidates were good choices but out of the both of them Kamala was a better candidate. She isn’t a racist and isn’t a felon. Donald Trump plans to deport all immigrants back to where they came from but if you think about it this whole country is built of immigrants. Most of the population in this country are immigrants. Plus, immigrants have been coming to the US since 1820. He’d be wiping off basically everyone in the country. I really don’t know much about politics but I know it’s not right to take a woman’s choice away from them. I may not support abortion, but I also don’t support the government being able to take that option away from a woman. They’re taking control of a woman’s body when it shouldn’t be their choice either way. Anyway, these are my thoughts on the matter.”
“I honestly don’t feel happy or sad about the election; I have mixed feelings. This election upset a lot of people in my community and culture. I have always wished for the United States to have a good president—someone who can change how things are and make our country a better place. I believe Donald Trump being the president will affect our nation in many ways, I truly don’t know if he will change for the better or not but just by hearing his plans and goals it sounds like he is just trying to make America go back to how it was like a few decades ago. This can affect a lot of communities and people.”
“So over all hearing each side of the Democrats and Republicans, I personally am on the Democrats side. Especially how they are liberal, people who are open minded and fight for everyone’s rights. On the other hand, Republicans are conservative which means that they are traditionalists, close minded, and not willing to fight for people’s rights; only for some. I was against Donald Trump winning the first time he was elected due to these reasons but I didn’t have a voice in it especially because of the age I was. But now, as a 17 year old, I always speak about it towards my family who are all on my side.”
“I truly had so much hope for Kamala Harris. The plans she had for this country were promising and it seemed like we were so close at being able to protect women’s rights for the long term. She promised to bring back the Roe v Wade law to Congress, lower rent, eliminate medical debt, and many other amazing things. Kamala is an amazing woman who just by looking at her and listening to her you can tell that she genuinely cares for this country and to make this a better home for all of us. At her speech at her rally after she lost the election, you can see the devastation in her face because she will now not be able to help our nation, but regardless of that, she continued to thank us, give us hope, and assure us that everything will be okay; the fight is not over.”
“Donald Trump being reelected was not a very wise idea for the country. But there’s nothing we can do anymore since the people cast their votes and this is the candidate they preferred. In my personal opinion, I think Kamala Harris would’ve been a better president to run the country. I strongly support this because you can actually tell in her campaigns that she actually cares about the American people and their rights. Also, she fights for financial help for the lower class and fights for women to have the right to their own body. Lastly, she is not a convicted felon or been found liable for sexual assault charges.”
“But personally I have been on the neutral side not leaning against, or for anyone in the presidential election. I was never a person to care about politics or even bigger matters that concerned the public. Until I saw how much the government really does impact the lives of other people including my own family. My parents started to struggle financially. We have never been struggling this much until the gas prices went up. Essential items for everyday life became nearly impossible to conceive. I saw people that I love have a difficult time with money, and how this problem rose exponentially.”
“A couple days ago my first period teacher was talking about the debate and who would win and who would be the best for us. My second period teacher was hoping Kamala would win. I kinda knew that she wouldn’t win, especially since a lot of people in America HATE to see a woman in charge. Though I still kinda kept my hopes up for her. I remember waking up super late at night, I believe it was like four in the morning. I saw people’s notes and stories being super disappointed that Trump won. I guess I am kinda scared but then again I’m just like well there’s nothing for me to do. From what I heard, he will be deporting people of color even if you were born here. It’s stupid, especially since the majority of them voted for Trump. I actually have no clue what will happen besides the deportation thing.”
“As a Hispanic, I slightly fear my parents, mainly that my dad could get deported from the country. Not just my dad, but for every Hispanic who has come illegally. I get the whole thing about someone breaking into your home with these illegal people but Trump has taken it far to a point where immigrants who are barely legal, are going to get their papers revoked and kicked out regardless. My family and I discussed that during the news about Donald Trump. Knowing my family, I think that they are good for now, that I know of. I do not personally talk about whether they had papers, so I am not scared or anything for them. I just feel bad in general because all of the people who are here illegally, even the ones who just got their papers. Those who can get their papers revoked, I see that as unfair. I do not personally have a problem with Trump or him being reelected, just the worries for the Hispanic people or anyone else who comes here illegally.”
“I have seen at Kamala Harris’ rallies there’s a positive atmosphere and she really seems to really care for America. During Trump’s rallies, I have seen numerous people with aggressive language and misinformation. During Covid-19, Trump disregarded the health guidelines and held rallies. Their campaigns leading up to the presidential election were very different and they both had numerous celebrity guests but what each did was extremely different. Tony Hinchcliffe, a comedian, was one of his guest speakers at a Trump rally, and openly said Puerto Rico is a “floating island of garbage” and included other racist remarks. I dont think it’s a good thing that Trump was reelected as he just seems like a bad person in general, and is openly racist about colored people and even made a positive comment about Hitler. I hate his policy of immigration as the United States was practically built upon by immigrants. People who contribute a lot to this nation, and to our city. His mass immigration plans will not only cost A LOT of money but will also break families apart, and my family would be affected.”
“After the recent election, I only feel fear and disappointment. The plans that Donald Trump has this time around are going to ruin the lives of millions of Americans. Kamala Harris had plans to change our future for the better, Trump wants this country to revert to old and discriminatory ways. We live in a society that hates women and knowing that people were willing to elect a man who is a convicted felon, a man who has sexualized his daughter, and a fascist as president rather than a woman, is truly saddening. I believe that Harris would have done so much more for this country. I’m also very disappointed in all of the Latinos who decided to vote for Trump. Some parents worked so hard to get here and give their familes a better life yet they chose to vote against them. By voting for Donald Trump, this country is gonna be in shambles. I see many people who are not taking this seriously because “We already lived with him as president before, we can do it again.” But that is simply false. He has different plans this time around. Everyone who voted for Trump just voted against their mothers, daughters, wives, etc. I hope one day this country will realize the importance of women. People don’t understand the gravity of this situation, and Project 2025 is terrifying. I don’t know how so many people can vote for a man who is completely against them. Kamala Harris gave so many people hope that there would be a solid future for us, but her plans were sadly ruined by the amount of ignorance in this country. Last time Donald Trump was elected I was a little ten-year-old girl in the 4th grade, but now this time around, I’m about to go out into the real world and that makes it so much scarier.”
“I still feel a little worried because of all Hispanics and for my people, but it’s better to let a dog bark that won’t bite instead of letting the dog being quiet and bite and what I mean about this is that Kamala Harris did not saying nothing about deportations which she could probably end up deporting them. Last time when Donald Trump was president, he didn’t finish his goals and build the wall so I don’t know what he will do this year. I just hope everything goes well and I honestly don’t know anything about the American election and I don’t really like paying attention to it because I can’t control anything and I can’t even vote since I’m not 18 years old yet.”
