Joana Ortiz is a 17-year-old senior in the AHHC academy at Hoover High School. Joana’s favorite artist of all time is Brent Faiyaz. Her favorite song is “Simple” by Kali Uchis, and her favorite movie is The Princess and the Frog.
Joana is incredibly hardworking and driven. She is a part of Cardinal’s Interact, FACES for the Future, and First Gen Scholars. She is also the president of the Class of 2025. She joined all of these programs because they helped prepare her for her college career and they helped to ensure that she would stay on top of her schoolwork all throughout high school. After high school, Joana wants to go to a four year university and plans on studying health and human sciences for her undergraduate major. Her dream school is USC because of the dental program they have there.
“My main goal is to become a dentist and open up my own practice here in San Diego,” she stated.
During her time at Hoover, her favorite class has been Mrs. Hohenstein’s Mind Matters course. She says the class was really eye-opening and she learned a lot about human psychology and social behaviors during her time in that class.
