Tyler Okonma, known as Tyler the Creator, was born in 1991 on March 6, and is 33 years old.
He developed the name Tyler the Creator because he was involved in many creative endeavors, such as creating and uploading songs and drawing on his MySpace page. His music started skyrocketing in 2011 after his first single came out called “Yonkers.” His first song Reverse was released in 2004. As a young black singer and songwriter, some of his accomplishments were various nominations including a Britt award, two Grammy awards, and an MTV Video Music Award.
Tyler made the world better by making good music and inspiring many other artists to take creative risks and push boundaries. Unlike many artists, Tyler shows his creativity through his music and performances.
“I think I’m cool. That’s all that matters,” expressed Tyler.
One of the changes he made for the black community was pushing social norms and singing different genres of music. He said he is deeply influenced by Pharrell Williams, an American musician and record producer. One thing that people might not know about Tyler is that he Co-founded Odd Future in the late 2000s. Another thing that most people don’t know is that he performed on the group’s sketch comedy show Loiter Squad from 2012-2014.
One thing people can learn from Tyler is that it’s okay to be different and to do what makes you happy, regardless of who thinks otherwise. His legacy can be one of the first African-American men to make music that doesn’t follow the norm of rap and hip-hop culture.
