Since there are only two more months of school, Hoover has a new policy which will be useful and can improve the school’s overall attendance.
This new policy is changing the passing periods from five minutes to three minutes. We know this would be a game-changing policy for the students who often show up late. It is time for students to be responsible and to get to class.
Teachers and administration have been putting the word for students to be on time because it will affect the privileges of students to do outside activities. Students need to rush and be on time instead of waiting outdoors and conversing with other students.
The schedule change will help the school to stop losing money. Tardies have been an issue that could easily be fixed by shortening the time to get to class. Students are to show and improve their overall academic performance. Improving time management by not showing up late, means success, success is what we want to show for Hoover.
This also develops positive habits, not just for school but for the future responsibilities they will have to do. Showing up to school on time is going to help with showing up for work on time. School can be forgiving, however, when it comes to getting paid at work, if you show up late once, you may be at risk of being written up, which will lead to termination. This is not to be harsh with students but to teach them discipline. School is supposed to be taken seriously and showing up on time is just as important.
In addition, the engagement between students and teachers would improve. Hoover High is about engagement and encouragement, and more respect means a better environment, so be one time!
