Hoover High School will now have a rotating class schedule for the 2025/2026 school year. After giving it much thought, the administration has decided that this new schedule will benefit students.
Starting August 2025, there will now be a rotating school schedule after the administration team had decided to change schedules from four periods to six. Many may be wondering as to how that would work, and it’s relatively easy. Students will have a total of 6 periods but will be able to skip one class per day. They will attend their classes in the following order.
Monday: Period 1, Period 2, Period 3, Period 4, and period 5.
Tuesday: Period 2, Period 3, Period 4, Period 5, and Period 6.
Wednesday: Period 3, Period 4, Period 5, Period 6 and Period 1.
Thursday: Period 4, Period 5, Period 6, Period 1 and Period 2.
Friday: Period 5, Period 6, Period 1, Period 2 and Period 3.
Monday: Period 6, Period 1, Period 2, Period 3 and Period 4.
And then back to the beginning, and it starts all over again.
After looking at other schools’ scheduling, administration believed it will increase class engagement and diverse learning . Many students tend to be bored of having the same schedule everyday or feel that it is repetitive, but with this new rotating schedule system it will decrease the boredom and increase engagement. Students will find themselves more engaged and awake after having a new schedule everyday. This also helps with time management and organization.
“This will help me with my school work too,” said junior Tania Mondragon. “I can put off doing homework for one of my classes for a day.”
“I like this idea,” said sophomore Natally Leon. “If a teacher gets on my nerves, I don’t have to see him/her for a day.”
This also creates new diverse learning experiences. Students will be exposed to different learning environments. We hope that with this change students will hopefully be more engaged in learning and be more awake during instruction time.
