Starting this school year, students have been having a problem with attendance, and the district is getting strict with attendance. After spring break, every senior must clear all their absences and tardies in order to graduate. If seniors want to graduate on time, they must have no more than 8 absences and 8 tardies.
“We should be given more opportunities to make up for our attendance,” said senior Mia Nayelli.
Students need to understand that they need to clear all absences and tardies to graduate.
This year, attendance is looking bad for almost all seniors. Regular attendance in classes is necessary for learning. If a student has too many absences or is frequently late, it can affect their grades. In this case, this WILL prevent seniors from graduating. This is a change for the seniors and future seniors. Students must start committing to attending class and being on time to graduate. The attendance issue is for everyone, but mostly for seniors, since graduation is coming up. Students could make up for their absences and tardiness by going to Saturday school and after-school tutoring.
“We should’ve been notified of this sooner,” expressed senior July Wah.
Although the new rules are challenging, it is to make sure that to set an example for the upcoming seniors and students at Hoover to realize that attendance does matter and to set the tone for them that the same thing will happen to their class if they don’t take this new regulation seriously.
If you want to walk across that graduation stage, make sure to attend your classes regularly and on time; you don’t want to get left behind because of your attendance. Start making your attendance your priority.
