Jazmine Hernandez is a resilient senior at Hoover and in the VAPA academy.
Jazmine is involved in a few programs and organizations such as Avenue for Success, Young Life, and Hoover’s choir. These extra curricular activities allow her to stay engaged as well as create bonds with new people.
She is an amazing leader in the AFS program, known for her energy and passion. As a senior, she stands out not just for her resilience but also for her ability to connect others by inspiring them to join the program. Jaz’s roles include managing their social media and taking pictures of events, field trips, and workshops to keep everyone updated. This allows Jazmine to promote the program by giving insight of the opportunities and resources AFS provides.
Jaz is also part of Hoover’s show choir. She joined the show choir to get out of her comfort zone, get involved, and make new friends. Being a part of show choir has brought her closer to new people and allowed her to gain skills such as teamwork and communication skills. This is her second year and she continues to love the performances and practices because it lets her stay engaged.
Young life is a club that Jazmine is part of. This club has helped her to grow her faith in God by attending bible study. She likes going because of the positive environments and kind people she has met along the way. Her favorite memories will always be the car drives back home because they are always filled with funny moments and laughter.
After high school, Jaz plans on attending Mesa community college for two years before transferring to SDSU to get her masters in interior design. Her long term goal is to design and remodel houses and be her own boss one day.
