Leonardo Carillo is a 17-year-old senior in the AHHC Academy at Hoover High School. Leonardo was born on July 18th, in San Diego, California.
His favorite song is “Impacto” by Enjambre, specifically the version with a feature from Lo Blondo. He says the song is very calming to him, and it helps him focus in class and when he needs to focus on homework assignments. His favorite color is gray because he thinks it’s very pretty, and he likes how neutral it is because it’s able to match with everything.
Leonardo is a part of Mid City Can, where he has been given the opportunity to learn about community advocacy. He is also a part of the FACES for the Future program at Hoover, which gave him a glimpse into what it’s like to work in the medical field and gave him a chance to work in that setting.
“Both programs have given me new learning opportunities,” he stated.
During his time at Hoover, Leonardo hasn’t had a particular favorite class. He says every class has been great, mostly because of his positive experiences with teachers.
“The teachers here are so nice, caring, and compassionate; they are amazing educators who make every school day worthwhile,” he emphasized.
As for his future life plans, Leonardo wants to go to a community college and become either a nurse or a radiation technician. He has a passion for helping people and would love to be able to express that as a career.
