Mental Health is a huge topic many people deal with, and it affects a high percentage of teens nationwide.
Different things may affect your mental health, such as what people say, do, or think, and it’s either for good or for worse. But if teens are dealing with issues about their mental health and may not know what to do, there are always other teens who have experienced the same thing and can explain how they deal with their mental health.
“I deal with my mental health by going to the gym,” explained Hoover senior Derek Espinosa. “Or I do something productive that will keep my mind busy and occupied.”
Derek also added that you do not have to work out for long periods and that 30 minutes a day is good for the body. Senior Omar Munguia also mentioned that he likes to play basketball or soccer to clear his mind. He also added that he likes to go for late-night drives, as it has a positive effect on his mental health, and feels at peace when he does so, which does sound pretty relaxing and peaceful.
“When I feel lost or confused, and my mental health is taking a toll on me,” expressed senior Omran Alnsheiwati. “I start to pray, and it always works no matter the circumstances.”
Omran recommends it to people around campus who may be struggling. However, these recommendations may not work for everyone, because people have different perspectives on dealing with mental health. However, even if teens don’t know how to deal with their mental well-being, they can try and discover new things that may be suitable for them.
