Mr. Armando Leon is an Associate Principal at Hoover High School. He has been working at Hoover for two years now. He is also a graduate from Hoover and always thought about one day coming back to work here. When the AP position opened up at Hoover, he was so excited to apply!
Something he wants the community to know about him is that he he loves being at Hoover and loves working with the students, families, and staff. What he enjoys the most about his work position is basically everything! From attending school sporting events, student performances, student showcases, and overall interacting with his amazing students. The main message he wants to give to the new school year is that “While Hoover High School is a great school, it will continue to get even better every year! ”
Before he was an administrator, he was a classroom teacher for 17 years. He was not planning on being an AP, but his colleagues encouraged him to move into school administration. He has also worked at several other schools. At one of his previous schools, his students designed a t-shirt with the quote “College by design, not by chance.” Mr. Leon really liked this quote and he started emphasizing this idea when he met with students one-on-one. He started his career at the MAAC Charter School, then worked at San Ysidro High, Mar Vista Academy, and lastly Logan Memorial Educational Campus (LMEC).
Some fun facts about Mr. Leon is that he has no pets and his favorite food is burgers, while his favorite drink is coffee, but not eaten together.
Mr. Leon likes to express “ Every day is a new day and every day we get to start fresh.”
