What are teens without their phones? Well more like, “what are humans without their phones?”
Adults and faculty staff love to give students a hard time about the amount of time teenagers use their phone everyday. They crack jokes saying how we wouldn’t last a day without our phones, however I believe that they are just as addicted and dependent on them as we are.
Teens find comfort within their phones, I too am one of these people. While on our phones we can connect with our friends and come across silly videos that make us laugh like our life depended on it. It provides an escape, somewhere where our worries can be forgotten for a bit.
To me my phone is my entire life, and something I am not ashamed to admit. It holds precious memories that I don’t want to forget. Pictures from loved ones who passed away, my friends, family, and funny pictures that make me smile. But it also holds so much knowledge, and keeps me informed with things going on around the world. If there is one thing I have learned in the past couple of years is the importance of keeping yourself informed, whether that be politically, academically or simply with issues happening around locally. Our phones hold so much valuable information that can help us stay safe and keep our loved ones safe too.
My main use for my phone is the Music app. I have so much music that I listen to all the time. Music is the one thing that helps my day feel ten times better. It helps put me in a good mood and relaxes me if I am ever feeling overwhelmed. My music is terribly important to me, without it, I feel incomplete. I bond over music with my friends and family, and although I am not musically gifted, I appreciate the artistic side to it.
I won’t lie to you, I also love my phone because of apps like TikTok, Instagram, and many streaming services. I have access to so much entertainment that I can never be bored. Using my phone helps me feel like time is going by fast whenever I have to wait for long periods of time, or am at a party I really dont wanna be at. When I say that my phone is my entire life, I truly mean it.
