Julion Alvarez (Julio caesar Alvarez Montelogo) is a Mexican singer specialized in regional Mexican music. Born on April 11, 1983, in Chiapas, just two hours away from Tuxtla Gutierrez, Alvarez is the second of four children to Cesar Alvarez Villapando and Maria Montelongo Esquivel. At school is where his passion for singing grew.
The first time Alvarez first stepped on a stage was during a school festival in which he first performed “Y por Esa Calle Vive,” later on winning first place in high school. At just 17 years of age, while attending Instituto Tecnologico de Tuxtla Gutierrez, he left for Mazatlan, Sinaloa abandoning his education. Due to a recommendation of Aldo Sarabia, who at the time was a member of Banda El Rocodo, later on working with the Banda Mr,Lobo. Alvarez dedicated and spent most of this time singing in many local restaurants and cantinas.
During this time, Alvarez formed a group called Banda MS, along with other young and inspired men. This group soon gave their first accomplishment in music after taking out more than 3 music productions. Until 2007, Alvarez decided to part from the group and from their rose Julion Alvarez y su Norteño banda which became extremely notable. In 2012 he won the Billboard Latin Music for Regional Mexican, and in 2016, he won the Lo Nuestro Award for regional Award for regional Mexican song of the year. Later that year he won the Billboard Latin music for Regional Mexican albums. Most recently he won the 2025 Lo Nuestro Award for Norteña song of the year.
From performing in restaurants to being the first Latin Artist to sell out Sofi Stadium three nights in a row. Alavarez and his band should be applauded for accomplishing a lot and representing Mexican culuture. They have become one of the most successful bands in Regional Mexicana.
