Plans for Spring Break

With spring break right around the corner, it is either time to throw on your bathing suit and hit the beach, or to watch Netflix and chill. t can also mean a lot of work from the teachers we hate, which decides to give us homework during spring break. However, there is time to do many things and explore San Diego while enjoying the California weather. But for those who plan on going out and being productive, here are a few things you can do:

  1. Belmont Park is always a great idea. You can hang out at the beach or visit the theme park. While you’re there be sure to enjoy the rides, laser tag, arcade, and/or the delicious ice cream from The Sweet Shoppe. There is also a bike path by the beach. If you don’t own a bike, there are many shops who rent them by the hour. If you’re not a morning person, you can have a bonfire with your friends and family in the late afternoon and roast marshmallows and make smores. Mission Beach also has volleyball courts further south so you can ride a bike from Belmont Park down to the courts and have a match with your friends. For those surfers out there, Mission Beach is a great place to go and ride the waves, or you can always visit the Flow Rider, a wave riding entertainment. Belmont Park and Mission Beach offer plenty of activities, so be sure to make a stop!
  2. During this spring break, you can start going for runs and to the gym to get started on the hot body you want for summer or for prom. Going on runs is a really good way to lose weight and what better place to run at than Chollas Lake? Chollas Lake isn’t just a place for you to exercise; you can go feed the ducks and go fishing. You can also just walk around with a loved one or a friend to catch up with them and enjoy nature. It’s definitely a great way to stay active and out of the house.
  3. Hiking is also another way you can stay active during the break and still have fun. There are so many mountains you can hike on, either by yourself or with friends, if you want to get fit. Los Peñasquitos Canyon Trail is a preserve with many sights including waterfalls, a forest, and many animals. For those who are more experienced at hiking, the Three Sister Falls offer a challenge with their steep and rugged trails. Other common hiking trails include Cowles Mountain and Torrey Pines.
  4. Want to find a great view over spring break? Here are a couple of places to explore in SD. Cowles Mountain, Mt.Soledad, and Sunset Cliffs has a great view in the morning. Watching the sunrise is awesome, but not better than the sunset. It is also a really good way to stay in shape you are going up and down the trails. Walking is good too, if you just want to relax and get your mind off things. Mt.Soledad is a veteran’s memorial in La Jolla that has a beautiful view of the beach and a great bird’s eye view of San Diego. Plus the weather in La Jolla is great. Sunset Cliffs is a place to chill and watch the sunset on the cliffs. Take the girl or guy you like there before the sunset and that will set the romantic mood for your date.
  5. If you’d rather do something less active, Balboa Park offers free museum admission on the third Tuesday of every month and all you need to do is provide a form of identification to prove that you are a resident of San Diego County. After visiting the museums, you can also enjoy the beautiful rose garden or have a picnic under the trees.

These are just some of many things you can do this spring break. Instead of staying at home, try having a bonfire with friends, going surfing, riding a bike down the beach, or visiting museums. Don’t forget to exercise and go for a hike. There are many other fun activities you can do with your friends so don’t stay at home all break, be active. There are so many things to do during this spring break and I only named a few places to visit. Don’t stay home! Go out and meet new people make and memories. If you are a senior, you especially want to make plans because it’s your last spring break before college.
