Snapchat Face Swapping
March 17, 2016
Anyone who has a Snapchat knows about the variety of cool filters on the app. The app has new filters added to it every now and then, and the filters are funny, scary, or cute. Chances are, you have used at least one filter on Snapchat and added it to your story.
The first popular Snapchat filter was the “Rainbow Mouth.” Ever since then, multiple filters have been created. Sometimes Snapchat will even advertise for a new movie or a show through their filters. To enable filters, just turn on your phone’s location services so you can have access to geo filters. Geo filters are filters that show the users location with the name of the nearest location that the user is in. Some places that have geo filters include our very own Hoover High School, like many other schools, and wherever you are in San Diego, there’s two San Diego filters.
The second most mainstream filter is called the Face Swap filter. The filter has two smiley faces, and when lined up correctly with two faces, the filter will swap the faces between two people, and either do a perfectly blended job or a hilarious glitch. Many users have swapped with an electrical outlet, faces found on posters or paintings, and even objects that don’t even have faces! Users are always experimenting with the Face Swap filters, and proof of it is all over Facebook and Instagram. Videos of the filters glitching on users have become super popular this past year.
With technology constantly growing and becoming more and more accurate, additional filters show how advanced in technology we are in showing how efficient the front facing cameras are in detecting faces. This advancement brings up millions of questions about how much more advanced we will be in a new more years. Maybe the filters will be holographic, 3D, and even more interactive in the upcoming years.
The new filters always catch people by surprise with what the creators come up with. Some filters have rainbows and clouds come out with some angelic sound effects playing, while are total jump scares. Users know just how to entertain everyone else on social media with their creativity and funny snaps. The filters were originally made for fun purposes, to make people laugh, and enjoy themselves. With more filters coming out, you can expect more funny videos surfacing online.
