Welcome back Cardinals! I’m Sofonyas Shibre and I’m the school’s newspaper Editor-in-Chief. I’ll be here to record this year’s highlights be it a sports event or activities. Come check out the new stories written by your classmates about topics that are important to Hoover students and remember to make this year your year.

Summer came and it went in a blur, but it’s the past. There will be many changes on campus, some that you’ll like and vice-versa. This year Hoover has a new athletic director, a new principal, and new teachers! Not to mention the construction that’ll have students entering from the side gate and meeting with their counselors in the library. All these new changes on top of stressful classes and schedule mix ups can cause any reasonable student to be aggravated.

Instead of being irritated focus on the positives, the new friends you’ll get to meet and reconnect with the old friends that swore you’d hang out during the summer. Challenge yourself this year, to be better, to step out of your comfort zone. There’ll be many reasons to fall back into old habits, it’s much easier to stay comfortable and not grow, but it’s not half as rewarding. Look at this year with optimism and go at it head first. This year will be whatever you make of it so make it count!
