Hoover’s Lady Cardinals kicked off their season with their first home game against the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders. Along with coaches from both schools, Hoover’s Thomas Tom and Mater Dei’s Carol Welcher, they both worked hard to train and prepare their girls for the upcoming season. This first non-league game took place on Tuesday September 12, accumulating to the fifth set with a score of three-to-two. As the game began, the Cardinals were behind but did not give up. The scores were close; one after another both teams played hard to rally their way to victory. Back and forth the girls win a set then come back after the other. They bounced back on Thursday, September 14th against Morse High School in a swift three zero victory. They dismantled Morse’s with quick movement, great passing, setting, hitting. They’re looking to keep the momentum alive as they head over to Santana on the 19th and Mission Bay on the 21st.
