Peter Gene Hernandez, also known as Bruno Mars, was born on October 8, 1985. Bruno Mars is a American singer-songwriter, record producer, and dancer. He is Filipino and Puerto Rican (his mother is Filipino and his father is Puerto Rican). He was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, however, he moved to LA to pursue his dreams as an entertainer. He was nicknamed Bruno by his father because he looked like the pro wrestler Bruno Sammartino. He started performing on stage at the age of four and performed in a family band. Bruno Mars is a huge role model to many because you don’t see too many Asians in the American limelight. He’s donated $1 million to those affected by the water crisis in Flint, and also donated $100K to Filipino children affected by Hurricane Yolanda, he even performed for them and other fans. Bruno Mars gets his style from his father and admits that him and his sister were embarrassed because the way his dad dressed, but now he’s just like him.
