Like many Asian American actors, performers, and dancers, Lucy Liu provides her piece of heritage to American television programming. Being born in New York City by Chinese immigrants she made her way to success by enrolling herself into New York University and later University of Michigan graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Asian languages and cultures. She later started her career by having her first role in Alice in Wonderland. One of her biggest roles was as Alex Munday on the film Charlie’s Angels. She was provided the voice of Viper in the Kung Fu Panda movie series. Currently she’s one of the stars of the CBS drama Elementary.

Liu’s impact of the Asian community isn’t as big as others but it still proves that there’s always a place for other types of genres of films and acts by different cultures. Growing up to make a difference in the entertainment industry as a woman makes a large difference for her and other Asian American actors such as Brenda Song, Christina Chang, Tina Chen and the list continues on. Just being an actor would have been a great accomplishment but she’s also known for being a director, a singer, a producer, visual artist, and voice actress. Her future films will continue to inspire young people of her heritage to be more than what others expect them to be.
