Selena Gomez has impressed the world with a new album Rare. It was released on January 10, and has since been on its way to be the #1 debut album in the United States.

According to Hits Daily Double, it’s expected to sell 50-55k US copies the first week of its release. It is definitely a boost up from her previous album Revival, and includes songs with 6LACK and Kid Cudi. On June 10th, 2019, Selena explained in detail on The Jimmy Fallon Show, that it took her about four years to complete. The album includes 13 tracks, with a theme about overcoming hardships, romantic and otherwise, while having positive messages and a happy rhythm on each of her songs.

I am beyond proud of her and everything she has overcome, both in her music, and mentally. Gomez has not only showed us her talent from her Disney days, but as a solo recording artist, she has proved she will only move forward and continue to love herself and be grateful for where she’s at now.

My personal favorite track from her album so far is “Rare,” not only because it’s a type of song that motivates you, but it’s a self empowerment anthem about independence and self love. In addition, I absolutely enjoy listening to it, whether it’s the beat that makes you want to dance, but the message and meaning lets me know that I shouldn’t ever put someone above my values, and I may not have everything, but I know I am worth something. Also, it helps me understand that things take time, and there are great things happening sooner or later, that I deserve.

Connecting with this, I have become connected with her songs “Fun” and “Cut You Off,” not only with the lyrics and meaning, but by the flow of the tones, melodies, and guitar strums is what I really love. They both have such a super catchy rhythm that makes it fun to dance and sing along to. She has definitely used different things in making every track unique.

Although Gomez has been through very difficult things during the time of making this album, from struggles with lupus, to a kidney transplant and hard profile breakups, she has impressed us all with this work of art, a beautiful upbeat shocking album. Many fans commented on how she made the album a more cheerful expressive way to note her struggles she’s faced it, as a way to say she’s healing and is only going up to success and happiness.

In addition, Rare, is so iconic, I couldn’t picture anyone else doing an album like this, she has truly made it HER album. It is definitely a must listen and take in feeling when getting to experience what it holds. Lastly, it really dives into the feeling how someone can affect your life and make you feel dependent on them, but at the same time making you realize you’re important and that you have the power to overcome any bitter situation.

In conclusion, I am obsessed with every song, every beat or melody she has included in it, and I am beyond proud of how far she has come to this point in her life. Every song to me is a masterpiece and I definitely recommend everyone to at least listen to it once. This is a huge comeback from her previous album, Revival, and welcomes us to a new era. Every song is very unique, so what are you waiting for, go listen to Rare!
