Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (also known as AOC) was born on October 13, 1989, in The Bronx, New York. Her father was born in the Bronx to a Puerto Rican family and her mother born in Puerto Rico. They lived in the neighborhood of Parkchester and at the age of 5 moved to Yorktown heights. Alexandria is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district. She was recognized after winning the Democratic Party’s primary election for New York’s 14th congressional district on June 26, 2018. Ocasio-Cortez took office at the age of 29, leading her to be the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress and has a strong presence in social media. Ocasio-Cortez attended Boston University, and double-majored in international relations and economics, graduating with great distinction in 2011. Ocasio-Cortez later worked for the non-profit organization National Hispanic Institute while working as a waitress and bartender and even housecleaner and school bus driver to help her mother financially. In the 2016 primary, she worked on Bernie Sanders Presidential Campaign. Now, She is one of the strongest females and isn’t afraid to call out others including President Trump and his administration.
