Covid-19 numbers are on the rise

The United States recorded more than 100,000 new coronavirus infections in a single day for the first time, as the nation waited to learn the results of a presidential election.
San Diego County is now in the purple tier. Ohio, Nebraska, Minnesota, Indiana,West Virginia and many more reported record numbers of patients hospitalized with Covid-19, the disease caused by the virus. In many of these states, hospital capacity is under serious threat. Nationwide there are more than 13,536,000 reported coronavirus cases and more than 267,500 Covid-19 fatalities logged in since February.
Coronavirus cases in American children increased by record numbers in the last week of October, according to data from the According to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association, “the number of new child COVID-19 cases reported this week, over 144,000, is by far the highest weekly increase since the pandemic began.” As of November 19, nearly 1.2 million children have tested positive for COVID-19 since the onset of the pandemic.
If mask wearing continues at its current rate of roughly 50 percent and social distancing measures are not followed, the study found, the total number of covid-19 deaths could reach two million. Healthcare experts said the numbers are likely to rise with recent record setting numbers of new Covid-19 cases. Despite the pandemic that is going on right now, during the recent election, exit polls showed that voters were more concerned about the state of the economy than public health. Some people just don’t understand that staying home will keep them safe. Sixteen states reported record high Covid-19 hospitalizations according to the Covid Tracking Project, and 22 states have reported at least one record high day of coronavirus hospitalizations during November, so far.
Almost 10 million cases have been reported across the United States, with the states of Texas, Florida, and New York reporting the highest numbers of infections as of now. The nation’s test positivity level has doubled since October 5, from 4.2% to 8.3%. The Covid Tracking Project recorded 1,116 new deaths and 2,802 new hospitalizations over the past 24-hour stretch. Now with the Thanksgiving holiday over, the numbers are sure to increase.
