A different December night

A different December night

Alexa Moreno, Staff Writer

December Nights is an event that happens every year and this year, it ran for three days instead of two. It was from Friday, December 4 to Sunday, December 6. For over 40 years, the San Diego community has enjoyed their holiday season by celebrating the annual event in Balboa Park.

This year, the event was from 11am – 10pm. Since the pandemic, covid-19 has affected the event and instead, they had a car drive through. They usually have some delicious foods, fun rides, and cute December shows everywhere in Balboa Park. The event was sponsored by SDGE and Think Blue San Diego. The supporting sponsors were Sycuan, COX, California Coast Credit Union, 12 XEWT, IHeartRadio, LocalMediaSanDiego, Printivity, and Commision San Diego Police.

If you went to December Nights it is wise to be prepared and to plan ahead.  Even after the event is over, patrons should be good neighbours and respect the park.  Throw away litter and stay six-feet apart, and don’t forget the most important thing: YOUR MASK!!! There was no parking at the event and cars drove through.  There were also no public restrooms available. This year, there were giveaways. The first 500 cars to arrive at the event each day will receive a commemorative Santa card and Taste of December Nights tote bag filled with fun, festive items.
