Todd Gloria was born on May 10, 1978 in San Diego, California. He is an American Politician, serving as the 37th and current Mayor of San Diego. Most notably, he is the first person of color and the first openly gay person to serve as the San Diego Mayor. During his early career years, he served as a San Diego Housing Commissioner from 2005 until 2008. He is also the former chairman of the San Diego LGBT Community Center. When Gloria was sworn into office, he knew he had a big responsibility as the first mayor to make history. “I recognize there’s a lot of people that paid a significant price and sacrificed a lot to open the door for me to be able to serve,” stated Gloria.

His plans for the future of San Diego include declining rates of homelessness, providing programs for poor communities, and fixing the economic crisis that arose due to COVID 19. As for the LGBTQ+ community, he hopes to inspire others to be who they want to be and know that anything is possible. He wants to maintain the current status the LBGTQ community currently has, with the support of the human rights campaign, as we continue to strive for equality.
