Criminal Minds follows an elite group of FBI profilers who study the country’s most deranged criminal brains in order to predict their next movements before they attack again. The show revolves around the team’s relationships as well as their personal life.
This show is unique because of the complicated connections and real-world situations that they face, as well as their personal lives and how they are affected. It follows a group of FBI criminal profilers who work for the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), which uses behavioral analysis and profiling to investigate crimes and discover the UnSub (Unknown Subject), the team’s term for criminals and serial killers. The main characters are Special Agent Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), Special Agent Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), Jennifer “JJ” Jareau (A.J. Cook), and Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness). Each member brings his or her own area of expertise to the table as they pinpoint predators’ motivations and identify their emotional triggers in the attempt to stop them. Each member brings his or her unique area of expertise to the table as they try to uncover predators’ motivations and emotional triggers in order to stop them.
In Criminal Minds, there’s no one villain, as there is a new plot in every episode. Each episode introduces a new conflict and the heros that save the day are the group of profilers I mentioned before. The show is set primarily at the BAU based in Quantico, Virginia, but they often travel to investigate the crime scenes. I personally love the series because I am obsessed with true crime, and the episodes take inspiration from a variety of real-life cases, ranging from kidnappings to serial murderers to exceptionally horrible murders, and has its characters investigate the crime, with similar, or wholly different, ends in each case.
The show is equal parts terrifying as it is addictive, leaving you at the edge of your seat every episode. Any who is interested in true crime as well should give the show a shot! You can watch it on Netflix, where I watch it, or HULU.
