A movie everyone should watch is Coraline, which came out in 2009. The movie is about a girl named Coraline, an only child who just moved into the Pink Palace. A huge house that was separated into apartments. The house has a history of strange events, and even weirder are her neighbors.

Coraline goes about her day, looking for an old well. A black cat scares her into running deeper into the forest. A boy named Wybie, notices her and helps her. He tells her that the well she’s looking for is right beneath her feet. The two get to know each other and Wybie was surprised that his grandma, the owner of the Pink Palace, rented the house to her parents. Apparently, the grandma doesn’t allow children. As Coraline explores her new house, she finds a little door that has been covered up. Upon unlocking the door with a button-shaped key, Coraline finds that the door has been bricked up. Coraline’s mother explains that it might have been bricked up when they separated the house into apartments. Later that same night, Coraline hears a mouse which she chases after. The little mouse went inside the little door, and when Coraline opened the door, a tunnel opened up that leads to the other side. Having curiosity getting the best of her, Coraline goes through the tunnel and ends up in another version of her house.

Confused, Coraline checks the new house out, this time with an uneasy feeling. She notices her mom cooking in the kitchen, she calls out to her. However, to her surprise, her new mother has buttons for eyes! The new mother explains that she is Coraline’s “other mother” and that everyone has one. Shocked, Coraline goes to fetch her “other father” so that they can eat dinner together. Once finished with dinner, she goes to sleep in the new version of her home. Surprisingly, she wakes up in her old house. She tells her parents what happened but they brush her off claiming it was just a crazy dream she had. Coraline ends up visiting the “other mother” often, uncovering dark secrets along the way. She saw this new home as a wish come true because they were everything she ever dreamed of. However, be careful what you wish for because Coraline ends up finding out real soon that some things are too good to be true.

Coraline can be watched on Youtube, Amazon Prime, and Vudu for a fee.  It is also available on Blue Ray and DVD, remember those?
