La cultura es importante para todos

Culture is important to all

Eric Sanchez, Editor-in-Chief

Culture is a big influence in my life! My culture is the bloodline of socializing. To me, culture means where I come from. Culture means family, friends, and people you belong to.

You have more than one culture, such as your ethic group, culture of your school, workplace, etc. For example, I am Hispanic since my parents were born and raised in Mexico. In a society, you get to express and share your cultures with the people around you and learn from each other. It’s important to share culture because that’s one way to communicate and understand each other. Learning different cultures can provide emotionally and intellectually moving experiences.

Culture brings people together whether it’s for a festival or something different. Another thing about culture would be that it gives us an identity that helps us build up our characters in this universe. I am learning about my culture daily from my parents and from school; how it has evolved to the new generation and how we have spread our food, music, and festivals in America. As a teenager, and part of the Hispanic community, I am proud to be Hispanic.

I love tacos de birria, la música, el idioma de mi cultura and I am happy to share it with my non-Hispanic friends to make them understand my identity. For example, I share my stories with them such as the type of Spanish songs, my beliefs, etc and they too share their culture with me. Our culture values serve as the founding principle of our life. It is the key point of shaping our critical thinking, behavior, and personality. At the end of the day, you will realize that each of us are connected in some way, shape, or form through our different cultures. Viva México y el resto de las culturas.
