Four years goes by quickly

With just two more weeks of school, many seniors are getting ready to leave Hoover High and move on to the next chapter of their life. However, I would like to take a moment and appreciate the last three years of our time in High School.

Seniors, I know that with every passing day, we feel a mixture of feelings, some may feel nervous, happy, or damn right ready. I feel nervous but ready. I would like for you to begin to think about when you first came to Hoover. We don’t think beyond that year as first-year students because we are still adjusting to a bigger school with more people. Each and every one of us had lost, gained, and/or reunited with friends. The beauty of reflecting is that you get to think of all the good and bad and view them in a different light. Our experiences shape who we are, and have led us to the place we currently stand.

Think about all the restless nights, fun parties, and beautiful friendships you have made throughout the years. Now, as we are only a few weeks away from graduating, all your hard work, headaches and breakdowns will finally be paid off. Your family, or friends will see you grab that diploma with pride and hope. Whatever path you choose after highschool, I hope you succeed in your dreams and goals. I want to leave you with this quote from Lee Scully,

“We all ended up here today at the end of chapter one, high school. Chapter two is about to start, and though it hasn’t been written yet, we all have a pen in our hands.”

So get to writing! You may not be able to change the past, but you can change your future. Remember Cardinals, we are capable, resilient and powerful. Please make sure to enjoy your summer break! HOO-RYDE
