Cardinals share their favorite holiday memories

Kathy Nguyen – The best holiday memory was when my family and I went over to another family’s house and just hung out. But, at the party, each family would bring each dish and everyone would share. All the adults would be in their own circle and all the teenagers would be in their circle. The teenagers and adults would take turns singing karaoke.

Jana Nguyen- The best holiday memory was when my family and I participated in secret Santa with my cousins. We were all supposed to buy a gift for one another for the name that we pulled out. When we were all exchanging gifts towards the end of the night, all of us came to find out that I did not receive a gift from no one and someone got their name pulled out twice. So even though I did not get a gift it’s not matter since it’s not about receiving it’s more about giving and spending time with your family but I am hoping this year I better receive a gift.

Abby- Best holiday memory is going to Guatemala for the first time and getting to meet my family and touring the city my mom got to grow up in.

Leia Tran – My best holiday memory is traveling to Arizona through both thanksgiving and Christmas and I was able to spend the holidays with my family here.

Celina Khonn – My family and I sat around the Christmas tree with all the presents wrapped. One by one, each of our family members would open up the presents review something crazy that would benefit our life such as more cooking utensils or cleaning supplies for my family and I. On this day, I met my father, it was fun to hang out with him because we began cherish memories and make new ones. He gave me some clothes that I like, which I still wear very often.

Hemen Alemu- One of the best holiday memories I have is celebrating Ethiopian Easter with my family. Ethiopian Easter is called Fasika in my culture. It’s the 55 days where Ethiopians celebrate their most festival time of the year. I love this holiday because it’s the time where families from all over the country come together and spend time together. We eat Ethiopian food and mix it with American food. You can basically say it’s a big Buffay. I love spending time with my family

Serina – Every year me and my sisters wear matching pjs and we go have dinner on Christmas Eve and then open presents on Christmas Day.

Jenny- Christmas is one of my favorite holidays because I get to spend time with my friends and family. During that time of year we go play tennis as a bonding moment and drink hot cocoa in the cold weather, sharing the holiday spirit the way we do every year.

Thi Nguyen-  Christmas is my favorite holiday because I have more time to spend with my big Nguyen’s family during the end of the year. We will have dinner together and talk, share our stories on Christmas night. Also, we will take a lot of pictures  to print on the calendar for next year!

Yolissa Garcia – On Christmas when my family spent it at my aunt’s house we all ate and it was a very genuine gathering cuz we’re all super close.
