Tyler Gregory Okonma, famously known as Tyler The Creator, has been an inspiration to me and I love him and his music because he isn’t afraid to experiment and express his vision.

Tyler’s music is unique and diverse and he really creates ideas he wants to show the world. He inspires many young minds and is a funny and honest person. When it comes to Tyler, he has no filter and speaks his mind no matter who he is talking to.

Tyler was born on March 6, 1991, in Hawthorne, California. His first studio album was called Goblin and the first single was called “Yonkers” and released in 2011 on YouTube which helped him become more popular and gain an audience. His album reached the top 5 on the Billboard 200, and he received praise for the “horrorcore vibe” of his music. However, he also received negative comments from critics saying his music was “weird” or “creepy.” Tyler never listened to criticism and continued making what he thought was good to him.

Tyler continued with his path to becoming a big hit artist releasing his second album Wolf in 2013, which reached number 3 on the charts selling over 100,000 units in the first week. Throughout the years he continues to grow his popularity and expand his music genre as he begins to collaborate with big artists like Kanye West, Frank Ocean, A$AP Rocky, and many more. He also helped upcoming big artists like Kali Uchis grow and experiment with her talent and mentored her.

His most recent album Call Me If You Get Lost has gained the attention of new fans. Tyler has won many awards even early on in his career. In 2011, he was nominated for two MTV Awards, “Video of the Year” and “Best New Artist” which he won. In 2013 he received a Grammy nomination for “Album of the Year” for Channel Orange, and in 2018, he was nominated for “Best Rap Album” with his release of Flower Boy. In 2020 Tyler won the Grammy for “Best Rap Album” with his album Igor. He would win that same Grammy Award for Call Me If You Get Lost in 2022.
