February 1, 2016
February is approaching in about a week or so and many of us do not have a clue as to what we want to do with our significant other. Lovebirds typically celebrate Valentine’s Day, but fellow friends can decide to get together on this lonely day for singles. Even though Valentine’s Day is meant to show appreciation and adoration towards one another through gifts, such as chocolates and flowers. Every day should be Valentine’s Day and it should not only be recognized on February 14th.
There are levels as to how fancy you choose to be depending on your circumstances, but regardless of that it is the thought that counts and nothing less of it. The entire point of it is solely to make memories that both sides can cherish and look back on in the future. The amount of money that is spent does not reflect on how much you love your partner.
If you’re having a rough time trying to figure out what to do with your loved one on Valentine’s Day, here are some easy and creative things you can do to make the day a special evening.
- To make an easy and thoughtful gift for your loved one, you can make a book on how much you love them, or what you love about them. Another thing you can do if you want to make something more fun and astonishing is organize a scavenger hunt with cards that mean something to the both of you that leads to a place you’ve met or a place you both like. For the girl, you can give her a bouquet of roses or any specific flowers she likes. For the boy, you can give him a massage, that’ll be good for both. If you want to make it more romantic, you can make him/her dinner and decorate the table with candles. After that you can both watch a movie or just hang out on the porch.
- If you are on a budget and still want to go out of your way to show what they mean to you, a candle-lit homemade meal with a bouquet of flowers is the way to go. Also, it can be as simple as a picnic at the park and a basket filled with their favorite foods, drinks, snacks, and etc. If you want to one-up this plan, you can board the Coronado Ferry from the Broadway Pier or Convention Center to the Coronado Ferry Landing on the other side, which includes a beautiful view of Downtown San Diego across the water. It is not pricey either, at $4.75 for a one way trip per person. Then, the picnic can be held at the landing unless you decide to try one of the restaurants instead. Do not forget to visit the shops and art galleries too.
- To get into the Valentine’s Day spirit, you can decorate your house with pink, red and white. Here are some Do-It- Yourself ideas. Make a trail of light. You can put candles inside of Mason jar’s to spice it up; you can decorate the Mason jar so it can stand out. Another idea is writing messages and make your loved one read them so they can know how you feel, just like in the book. You can also reserve a nice dinner at your favorite restaurant and spend time catching up on things, just be sure to reserve a table a couple of days or weeks ahead.
If you don’t have a Valentine’s date, you can celebrate this day with your friends. Go out and watch a funny movie or go to the beach and have a bonfire, while telling each other secrets and/or scary stories. You can also go shopping, ice skating or to an ice cream shop together. If you don’t want to hang out with your friends, or maybe they can’t hang out with you, then you could spend this day doing things with your family and rent a couple of movies and have a movie marathon. You can also go out and eat at a restaurant, enjoy the food and have a nice family meal together. Another possibility is to go on a road trip to a place that has significant value to all of you. You also could just hang out by yourself because you’re not obligated to hang out with anyone. You can treat yourself to some fun and devour junk food while binge-watching your favorite TV shows and movies on Netflix.
There are many ways to spend Valentine’s Day with your loved one, but any kind of date you have in mind can turn into a perfect Valentine’s Day for that person; small details mean a lot and the thought counts. Even making Valentine’s and, staying at home and with someone you like can make a perfect date. Valentine’s Day can be a big holiday for couples to create big ideas to make them know they care.
