Think for yourself

Think+for+yourself

When a person plagiarizes, it means that they steal the work of another person by using the exact words as if it was their own.

When a person plagiarizes it can affect them in many ways. It affects their education because they’re not truly learning anything by copying others’ work. When you’re growing as a writer it’s important to find your voice. What I mean by that is, everyone writes differently. We all have our own style of how we write. When you copy or use Artificial Intelligence, it’s not helping you at all. Instead it’s taking away from your own intelligence because when using AI or when asking something to AI you are letting it think for you.

When students plagiarize they receive huge consequences. For example, students can fail their class or get kicked out. We have to take this very seriously because it’s considered cheating and dishonesty. The students it affects the most are college students. When a college student plagiarizes or uses AI, it can get them kicked out of their school and that could possibly affect their career path. When you become an adult and have a job like a news reporter, journalist, author, etc., you can lose your job and your reputation, which may prevent you from getting another job. When you plagiarize it can affect you as a writer because it shows that you did not put in your full effort.

When a student gets caught plagiarizing or using AI, they lose their teachers’ trust, and their reputation as a student can be ruined. Many students also use AI to steal or copy others’ work. AI helps students steal ideas or information from other sources. Not only that but it also helps correct any errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Of course, like all of us, I am not perfect myself. I have plagiarized my papers before.  I try not to use too much from articles, but just get an idea about what to write about. Yes, guilty…it’s plagiarism. We have to respect our teachers and not plagiarize because in the end, it’s not good for any of us. If students get in the habit of doing it, they will struggle when actually writing and then begin to depend on AI.

The idea of plagiarism and AI is really bad. As high school students, we do not realize it but we have all been affected by plagiarism and AI because in this post Covid world, some of us have not been able to think on our own. Now we can understand the true meaning of why it’s important to do our own work because when we do, it leads to us being successful in life.

Growing up she was always spoiled for being the youngest. As a child, her mother always encouraged her to value her education and take advantage of all the great opportunities. Not only that but to also become more independent as she grew up. Her biggest inspiration in life has to be her mom, who was born and raised in Mexico City. She came to the United States about 20 years ago in hope for a better life. Although she was a single mother, she worked hard to always give her five children a better life . No matter how bad things got, her mother always motivated her to be a better person. Sarai would do anything to continue to make her proud Her top three favorite places to eat have to be In-n-Out, Wingstop, and Olive Garden. She loves to write. Her favorite school subject is English. Don't ever ask her for help in math because she won’t understand a thing. Sarai is very shy at first but once you get to know her and help her step out her comfort zone, she becomes this funny and out-going person. As she grew up she realized she wanted to become a medical assistant. She hopes to get into a good college, and will continue to work hard to do so. She believes that if she continues to encourage others to continue to reach their goals and never give up on their dreams, it can make a huge difference on other people.
