Mr. Mark Gonzales has announced that he will not be returning next year due to a new addition to his family.
Mr. G and his wife are expecting their second child. After much thought, he made the difficult choice to leave Hoover. Mr. G wants to be closer to his family and do what is best for all of them.
Over the years, Mr. Mark Gonzales, most commonly known as Mr.G, has been a really big influence on our school’s campus. He has done a lot of amazing things not only for our performing arts, but for our students as well. Mr. G has been creatively involved and taught piano and choir, and also takes on the role of director when the drama department produces a musical.
He has been an icon for many students at Hoover, including Card of Hearts and his show choir group not only as a director, but as someone to count on. He has demonstrated students’ care and support, winning their trust, and leaving a mark in the lives of students and the school. Mr.G has been teaching and working hard for the past nine years, and he has always been present. Though everyone appreciates the person he is and the work he has done, he is about to start a new chapter in his life.
“This is really going to impact our performing arts program and the ALMA academy,” expressed academy director, Mr. Michael Heu. “He will be hard to replace and will be missed very much by students and staff.”
Mr. G will be directing the upcoming musical, Mean Girls, and it will be his big swan song in May. He will also have two choir concerts as well.
