Coach Stahley
Ms. Vanessa Stahley is the athletic director and has been coaching at Herbert Hoover High School 16 years and plans to stay here at Hoover until she retires.
One of Coach Stahley’s most happiest and memorable moments as a coach was when the girl’s basketball team, in 2019, won the CIF’s and it was the first championship the team has ever won. She was so proud of them because the girls worked so hard for it.
Coach Stahley’s job is most exciting when she hires more good coaches for the student athletes. She wants them to be taken care of and nurtured by the coaches. She is also happy to work with the special ed department because it helped bring all the students at Hoover together.
With the girls basketball team, Coach Stahley likes to work on team bonding for the girls at Hoover because she noticed it makes the teams closer. She also works with them to have better communication, teamwork, and by building relationships with each athlete to create a stronger team.
Coach Stahely also has 10 girls, from her very first girls basketball team that she coached in her first year at Hoover, that come to visit and they stay in contact with each other till this day. She does this to support them in their lives. She even has a student that she taught that is now a volleyball coach at Hoover.
Ms. Mara
Ms. Marangelie Satoni-Cruz is on the Hoover High School staff as the finance clerk who makes sure the money at Hoover is used correctly and how to budget the money wisely.
She likes how the new school year is going so far because there is a new administration, everybody has new energy for each other, new ways to do things, and everybody is very energetic. She enjoys her job at Hoover because she likes to deal with money. She also manages everybody’s supplies, field trips, and anything that involves money that goes through the office. Her most memorable memories at Hoover are the years she had when she was working with former Hoover principal, Mr. Jason Babineau. When they first started, and those were most memorable, you can see the progress he built in the school. She is happy with her career but not necessarily because of the career that she picked. She wanted to be an engineer at first when she was influenced by her father. However, when she graduated high school and went to college for engineering, she did not like that “it was a challenge,” but not in a good way.
She is originally from Puerto Rico, and was born there in 1970 and moved to California in 2005. She has a husband and two sisters with one of them living in Puerto Rico and she plans to go back to the island when she retires. Her favorite food is pizza because she comes from an Italian family from her father’s side, and loves pasta and lasagna. Her hobbies are puzzle making and lego making. She makes lego plants and she even made a piano but as to why she makes lego plants is because she can’t take care of plants so she made it a hobby to make lego plants and flowers because “they never die.”
Another one of her hobbies is to go to sports games. She went to two Laker games this summer. Her favorite holiday is her birthday because she never works, and she would take a day off before her birthday but aside from that it’s Christmas but she thinks it’s nostalgic and different from how it’s celebrated compared to Puerto Rico. Here it would be all lights and in Puerto Rico it would be all dancing and singing.
Ms. Brianna
Ms. Brianna Desingano is a teacher at Hoover High and the ASB director who gathers groups of leaders into her event marketing classes and guides them with steps to make Hoover a great school.
The class helps make the school better because of the events, posters, sponsorships, supporting clubs, sports, school spirit at school and all done by ASB. She has admitted that it’s fairly stressful, but the best part of it is learning and understanding the students. Ms. Brianna gets to experience them growing up and achieve goals they were setting for themselves. She claims that most of goals were from what they learn in her class.Though she might seem like a teacher with stress and probably strict, she has fun quality times just like everyone else.
Her goal is to have everyone mature and take their responsibilities seriously as leaders. ASB is not taken very seriously, however, that class is about to promote the interests of the students and the campus community.
In Ms. Brianna’s free time, she likes to play video games (Apex Legends), crochet, paddle boarding, and nap most of her time. Finally, she loves to watch T.V when there is nothing else to do. She doesn’t like brown mushrooms. Interestingly enough, Ms. Brianna has a lot of foods she disapproves of like- cucumbers, olives, bell peppers, spicy food, cottage cheese, and milk (lactose intolerant).
