Janet Martinez is a 17-year-old senior at Hoover High School and is in the ALMA academy. After high school, Janet plans on attending a four year university and getting a degree in economics or finance. Afterwards, she plans on going to law school and becoming a lawyer. Her favorite class during her time at Hoover has been ceramics, which was an hour and thirty minutes of complete peace, and a new art medium for her during junior year. She joined Wahupa during her freshman year because financial aid and college planning was a priority for her. Janet is also in Cardinal’s Interact and is very grateful for the opportunities it has brought her.

“I would not have done nearly half as much in my time in Hoover without CI,” she stated.

Janet’s favorite movie is Spiderman: Across The Spider-Verse because she is a big fan of Spiderman, but she also just really enjoys the animation in both Spider-Verse films. At the moment, her favorite music artists are Mitski and The Crane Wives, as she constantly listens to both artists on loop since their music really speaks to her. Specifically, the songs “A Pearl” by Mitski, and “Scars” by The Crane Wives.
