An unsung hero is an individual who has done something great but is not recognized by their achievement.
Born in the sunny month of July, Sandy Sarabia is a dedicated student and athlete from Hoover High School, and aiming for straight A’s. Sandy is a senior and part of the ALMA academy. She is focused on her academics and enjoys working independently; while also staying involved in school activities, such as cross country, Cardinals Interact, and part of the Young Environmental Justice Advocate Academy. Through Cardinals Interact she had the opportunity to travel to Romania alone, as well as all expenses paid. She likes to run because it is not just about exercising but a mental strength training that keeps her determined to reach her milestones.
Sandy is also passionate about her self-improvement and self-expression. She also likes to work out, maintain skin care products and techniques, and create natural makeup looks. Music is one of the main things in her daily life. So much that she is a part of Hoover’s choir. Sandy enjoys K-pop, R&B, and instrumental music, which helps her stay motivated and calm. Lately she has developed a passion for writing poetry and song lyrics, and publishing her work online.
Looking forward, Sandy is intrigued in attending UCSD and pursuing a career in physiology as a therapist but is open to other paths, which includes, but is not limited to, becoming a professional runner, dancer, or a performer on stage. If she would end up pursuing music, her top colleges would be USC or SDSU. Her love for the stage and artistic expression is one of her greatest strengths for her success, both in school and in life.
“The magic happens when stepping out of your comfort zone,” expressed Sandy.
