I think we should have two weeks of spring break, instead of one. School can be very stressful for many students. Students often miss school since they feel like they need a day off or two. And numerous teachers can also lead to them assigning lots of work, which can put a strain on the average student in completing and turning in their assignments. Students can also be a problem, as some of them can be loud and obnoxious when it’s just eight in the morning. And that can bug students and prevent them from showing up to school.

In all my years of highschool, currently a senior, I have constantly found myself hearing, thinking and saying ¨spring break is too short¨ the reason being we students and staff only receive one week off, but in my personal opinion i believe a two week spring break is the way to go. Therefore having more time to unwind and relax would really benefit the students, and help them better prepare for the finals and AP test that take place soon after break.
Also for those students who are working part time, the two week break allows them to pick up more shifts at work. Many times I’ve heard my peers talk about helping out at home with paying a bill or two, therefore having this time to work extra would really benefit them financially giving them that extra income. Not to mention for the seniors that August is around the corner meaning those going to university and college can also take advantage of this time to make that extra income to save up for their college expenses.

Prior to spring break, I had been dealing with the pressure of trying to deal with schoolwork, personal life, and sports. I was always telling myself that it was going to pay off once I got to spring break. But to my disappointment, it didn’t satisfy my needs. I needed a week of self nurture and time that I was in control of. But just like school, I was on someone else’s time, under another person’s rules.
Two weeks of break is an opportunity for students to reorganize their personal lives so that they can be more focused and productive in the classroom. Giving students time to be with their families can be therapeutic in ways. As much as schools want to promote help for mental health, one of the most effective ways to help is family time which cannot be replicated. Mental health is often neglected by many, not just students, and giving them time off of one of their most stressing factors can help them greatly without them even knowing.

Teachers can easily get overwhelmed during the school year. Having to handle multiple classes can be very stressful, and they deserve a break just as much as students do. Two weeks of break gives teachers adequate time to catch up on grading as well as time to relax and enjoy having time off. School can be very stressful and feel tedious for everyone as the end of the year inches closer, and getting two weeks allows everyone to come back feeling refreshed. A longer break results in more well-rested teachers and students who finally got a break and are ready to learn. Two weeks also gives everyone the chance to have some fun during the warmer weather and spend time with loved ones. A two-week spring break has many benefits that would improve the morale for both students and teachers during the last months of school.

Instead of just one week off for spring break, having two weeks could be really helpful for everyone. A longer break means more time to relax and recharge from everything going on. One week isn’t really enough time to really unwind and time can pass by really quickly but with two weeks this would give students a chance to catch up on sleep, do things they enjoy, and feel less stressed. This could give students enough time and feel brand new, focused, and motivated to go to school and do better in their classes.
Teachers could also use this extra time to learn new skills, plan better lessons, and also relax themselves. This could make them better teachers and are less likely to get burned out. They also need their own time to focus on themselves and their families at home or anything else they might have going on and this break would make them feel less stressed and help them clear their minds.
A longer spring break could also help the local economy. Families are more likely to travel or go outside somewhere to eat or engage in local activities. This boosts tourism and supports local businesses and is good for the economy and our community.
