Ms. Villa is honestly one of the best teachers at Hoover. This is her fifth year teaching Sports Medicine, and she leads everything from introductory classes to the more advanced 3rd and 4th.
What makes her class stand out is how much she genuinely cares about her students. She often says her favorite part of teaching is that every day is different, and she loves seeing that “aha!” moment when we finally understand a concept and realize we can apply these skills in real life.
She does so much for our school not just as a teacher, but also as our athletic trainer. She’s always there to take care of us, and because she takes the time to truly get to know her students, her classroom feels comfortable, supportive, and successful. Her “open door” policy makes it easy for anyone to talk to her about anything.
Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Puddle. They love going hiking, visiting the beach, and exploring new coffee shops and restaurants. She’s also really talented at crochet and has even taught some of us, which is a fun way to connect outside of the medical curriculum.
Ms. V has big goals for the future. She’s working hard to make the Sports Medicine program the best it can be and is currently pushing for it to be recognized as an honors class. She knows it will take time, but she’s patient and determined. At the end of the day, she’s focused on building a strong program while maintaining a balanced and peaceful life. She’s kind, calm, and dedicated. We are lucky to have her at Hoover.
