Ms. Leon is a dedicated English teacher at Hoover High School who has been teaching for eight years. Throughout her career, she has developed a strong passion for helping students grow both academically and personally.
Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Leon worked as a softball coach, where she discovered how much she truly enjoyed inspiring young people. This experience played a major role in her decision to pursue teaching as she wanted to make a lasting impact on students’ lives. As a teacher, she not only focuses on academics but also strives to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and taking risks in their learning.
One of Ms. Leon’s favorite parts of teaching is seeing her students connect their own lives to the books they’re reading in class. She enjoys seeing them recognize the struggles and growth that many characters experience and how those journeys can relate to their own personal challenges. And how that helps students better understand themselves and the world around them, helping them reflect and build critical thinking skills.
Furthermore, in teaching, Ms. Leon values giving her students advice that will help them beyond the classroom. One important piece of advice she often shares is the importance of building connections with teachers, mentors, and peers because having these connections can provide guidance, support, and opportunities.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Leon enjoys spending quality time with her family. She loves being with her husband and sons, especially when they enjoy playing baseball, attending tournaments, or going to Padres games together. These moments allow her to relax and enjoy her time with her family. Overall, Ms.Leon is not only a passionate educator but also a caring mentor who is committed to helping her students succeed both in school and life.
