Christian Estrada is a junior in the VAPA academy at Hoover High School. He likes being at Hoover and being part of the VAPA program. One of his favorite parts of it is music. Music is something he really enjoys, and it gives him a way to connect with other people who like the same things.
After high school, Christian is thinking about going to college, but he is still not completely sure yet. If he decides to go, he has thought about maybe going to Miramar College or San Diego State University. Both of those schools are in San Diego and could give him good opportunities for the future. Even though he is still deciding, he knows that continuing his education could help him figure out what he wants to do later in life.
One of Christian’s favorite things to do at Hoover is play music with his friends. Music is a big part of his life, and it makes school more fun for him. Sometimes school days can feel kind of the same every day, but playing music helps make things more interesting. When he has problems or challenges, he usually tries to deal with them depending on the situation. Sometimes he talks to his friends about it, and other times he just takes time to think and figure it out.
One of his favorite memories from Hoover was being part of the Battle of the Bands during his sophomore year. It was a really fun experience because students got to perform and show their music in front of other people. Being able to participate in that event was exciting and something he will probably always remember.
Christian thinks Hoover is a pretty safe school overall. He also feels like the homework teachers give isn’t too overwhelming most of the time. When he does feel stressed, he usually listens to music because it helps him calm down and relax.
Christian also likes living in San Diego. He enjoys the city and the environment around him. If he had to describe himself in three words, he would say creative, observant, and funny. One interesting thing about him is that he can play more than one musical instrument, which shows how much he likes music.
