Rocky IV is a 1985 American sports drama film written, directed by, and starring Sylvester Stallone. Rocky IV was the highest-grossing sports movie of all time for 24 years, before it was overtaken by The Blind Side. It is the sequel to the 1982 film Rocky III, and the fourth installment in the Rocky franchise. To date, it is the most financially successful installment of the franchise. It also stars Dolph Lungren and original cast from the film series: Talia Shire, Burt Young and Carl Weathers.
In the film, the Soviet Union and its top boxer make an entrance into professional boxing with their best athlete Ivan Drago, who initially wants to take on world champion Rocky Balboa. Rocky’s close friend Apollo Creed decides to fight him instead in an exhibition but is fatally beaten and killed in the ring by Drago. Enraged, Rocky decides to fight Drago in the Soviet Union to avenge the death of his friend and defend the honor of his country.
Spoiler alert
I chose this film because of the way Rocky stopped doubting himself and he wasn’t scared to admit that for the first time he was afraid. This movie had me with goosebumps the way they expressed their emotions clearly. The most intense part of the movie was when he knocked the fighter Drago down and the referee announced that Rocky was the winner of this big special fight. His motivation was his wife and kid that he had at home, because he knew that he had to stay safe for them. Rocky developed his mindset throughout this movie because if he didn’t change his attitude he would’ve lost and his life would’ve been in danger getting in the ring with Ivan Drago. People should watch this movie because it is a movie that is full of motivation and it really could help someone when they’re afraid. This movie really impacted me in a way because it showed me that being afraid in life isn’t bad and it is okay to feel scared sometimes but that should not stop you from doing what you believe needs to be done.
