TWICE gives “the feels”

Jana Nguyen, Staff Writer

Twice is a South Korean female band created by JYP Entertainment, a South Korean entertainment firm. Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu are among the group’s nine members. Twice refers to the act’s influence on the audience “once through the ears and once through the eyes.”

Since October 20, 2015, they have been a group. They were formed just on the Korean  elimination program Sixteen, where a group of 16 trainees would audition and perform against each other for a position on the show, after which they would be placed in the girl group, Twice. The group’s leader is Jihyo Park. She is in charge of leading their introductions anytime they are set to play, as well as introducing all of the members at a performance or a show. Despite the fact that she is not the oldest, the voters appointed her to be their leader. In Korean groups like these, there is generally a bias, which means that there is one person that fans favor a bit more than the others, although they still like all of them.

They perform a wide range of musical styles, however their main focus is on K-pop. They would generally have one song that served as their title track, to which they would dance and sing, and then they would release an album. My favorite album from them is Eyes Wide Open. The album consists of 13 songs and out of them, Queen is my favorite throughout the album.

I love listening to them because they have songs where I’m able to relate to their music, even if their music isn’t in english, I would sometimes search up their lyrics in English just to understand what they are trying to say. Definitely worth checking out!
