One of my favorite places to grab a bite is Gallego’s Mexican restaurant, which is located at 4728 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92105. The atmosphere at Gallego’s is perfect for family dinners and casual hangouts with friends.
The interior is very welcoming, with colorful decorations and with many paintings depicting Mexican culture. There is plenty of seating available and the vibe is always welcoming. If you’re a baseball fan they have a tv where they often show baseball games.
My favorite dish is carne asada mini tacos, and has been my go to dish from this place for years, and for good reason. It’s such a simple dish but always packed with flavor. It’s served on soft corn tortillas with fresh cilantro, onions and of course given with lemons on the side. I always have to pair it with a refreshing cup of horchata, a sweet and creamy rice-based drink that balances the savory flavors of the tacos perfectly. When you order you will always be given an option on which sauces you want.
Although the carne asada mini tacos are my personal favorite, the menu at Gallegos offers a variety of delicious options. The options vary from whether you’re craving tacos, burritos, burgers, or any other classical Mexican dish. They also offer a variety of drinks spanning from soda to horchata and jamaica. For the quality of their food, service and the overall atmosphere, Gallegos Mexican Restaurant should be considered a gem.You get great value for your money here, with generous portions and sometimes daily specials.
